Abstract
275,637. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. Aug, 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments.-In the production of strong threads from filaments produced by the stretch-spinning process, particularly from copper-ammoniacal solutions, two or more groups of filaments are produced separately and travel adjacent to but separated from each other through a stream of precipitated liquid by which they are treated until they have lost their stickiness, whereafter they are led from the spinning apparatus united into a single strong thread. As many funnels as groups of filaments, may be employed, the funnels all opening into one outlet tube, or instead of using funnels in an outer casing, the casing itself may be of funnel shape, the interior funnels being omitted. The apparatus shown in Fig. 1 has two spinnerets a<1>, a<2> at the top of the casing b. The single funnel c has an outlet d, the precipitating liquid being admitted by a tube c. The groups of filaments f<1>, f<2> are kept separate until they reach the outlet tube d, where they are united. A single spinneret may be used with groups of holes to form separate groups of filaments. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the funnel is divided as at c<1>, c<2>, each portion taking a group of filaments. The precipitating liquid may be admitted at c as before, or by separate pipes which may be at the tops of the funnels. In the form shown in Figs. 5 and 6, three casings b<1>, b<2>, b<3> have a common outlet d, the precipitating liquid being admitted at c<1>, c<2>, e<3>. or at c<4>. Outlets g<1>, g<2>, g<3> mav be provided at the tops of the casings, in which case the liquid flows both in the opposite direction to the movement of the filaments and in the same direction as the movement of the united thread. Any stretchspinning apparatus may be used which allows groups of filaments to be produced separately and then to be brought together while still within the apparatus.
