Abstract

275,522. Webster, R. April 14, 1927. Polishing-compositions; stains.-A staining and polishing composition for leather &c. comprises a wax such as carnauba wax, soap, a dyestuff and ghatti gum, emulsified in water and allowed to set to a solid or pasty consistency. Preferably a black dyestuff such as nigrosine is used. The composition may be dissolved in water and if applied to boots &c. is finished with a pad or burnishing iron. In an example a small amount of formalin is added to the composition to maintain sterility.
