Abstract

Cores, covering by winding.-In a machine for winding paper or other strip material about a cable or other core, the holder or each holder for the strip material is adapted to be adjusted in three directions by screw-like members. Each holder comprises an arm 33 provided at one end with a bifurcated part 34 which supports a worm 37 engaging teeth 32 in a circular projection at the end of a member 13. The member 13 has also upon it longitudinal teeth 14 and, for a part of its length, a screw thread 15, a worm 23 held against axial movement being arranged to engage the longitudinal teeth and a nut 16 also axially fixed being mounted upon the screw-threaded portion 15. The member 13 with the holder 33 is adjusted axially by rotation of the nut 16 and angularly by rotation of the worm 23; rotation of the worm 37 adjusts the holder 33 with respect to the member 13 about an axis at right-angles to the axis of the member 13. Each member 13 is mounted upon a spider 2 arranged within a tube 1 through which the core is fed axially, the tube being driven by a belt engaging a portion 11 thereof and being supported at one end in a bearing 7 and at the other end upon rollers 6.
