Abstract
274,565. Dickson, S., and Israel's Patent, Ltd. April 22, 1926. Metal pipes.-A metal pipe lined centrifugally or otherwise with cement or concrete is provided with an inner coat of bitumen or other non-metallic friction reducing material applied in a heated condition, the pipe being meanwhile rotated at such a speed that the ratio of centrifugal force to the gravitational force is so small that the effective agent is gravity. There may also be an external coating of bitumen &c. The lining may be applied by means of a brush or a spray which is drawn through the pipe while this is rotated, or it may be rolled in a shallow bath which preferably completely covers the pipe with liquid. The bituminous preparation called Angus Smith composition, containing coal tar, tallow, slack lime, fine resin and coal tar naphtha may be employed.
