273,912. Blackburn Aeroplane & Motor Co., Ltd., and Rennie, J. D. July 24, 1926. Overhead supports.-For facilitating the installation and replacement of its engine, an aircraft is provided with a fixed or detachable runway D fitted with a travelling block F and lifting tackle G, and having one of its ends located above the engine bearers K and the other end projecting so as to permit an engine H to be lifted from the ground or from a boat J, and lowered on to the engine bearers. The runway consists of an I-section, cantilever girder of diminishing crosssection towards its free end, connected by brackets E, E<1> to the under surface of the upper wings C and stayed laterally by bracing wires L. In aircraft with engines on either side of the hull or fusilage a straight forwardly-projecting runway is provided for each engine, but in a three-engine machine with one of the engines over the hull, the runway for this engine is curved so that its outer end is over a free position, or it is pivoted to permit it to be swung outwardly over such a position.
