Abstract

273,210. Rattee, W., Fidge, H. T. A., and Garrard, R. March 8, 1927. Sanitary and hygienic devices. - Relates to a renewable cap, cover or lining for telephone mouthpieces or earpieces of the type which are usuallv treated with antiseptics and made of paper, fabric, thin metal &c., or a combination thereof, moulded to fit the interior of the mouthpiece or to fit over the face of the earpiece, the inner end or centre of the cap being perforated and consists in forming the, body portion of the cap so as to present a plain surface and adapted to fit closely the interior of the mouthpiece or recessed face of the earpiece, the outer edge of the cap being turned back and pleated so as to pass over and grip the periphery of the mouthpiece or earpiece. Fig. 1 shows a telephone mouthpiece b fitted with a funnel-shaped paper cap a provided with perforated base a<1> and turned back pleated rim a<2>. The base a<1> may be made of metal. The paper cap c for the earpiece d, Fig. 3, is formed with a central aperture c'and pleated retaining rim c<2>. The caps are preferably impregnated with disinfectant.
