Description

C. H. MONKS MOUTHPIECE ATTACHMENT FOR TELEPHONES June 21, 1927. Y 1,633,491
Filed Oct. 2, 1926 I INVENTOR ill Patented June 21, 1927.
PATENT." OFFICE.
CHARLES HARRY MON KS, 0F RIDGEWOOD, JERSEY.
MOUTHPIEGE ATTACHMENT F OR TELEPHONES,
Application filed October 2, 1926. Serial No. 139,133.
This invention relates to mouthpiece attachments for telephones, speaking tubes and the like, and its primary object is to provide such an attachment that can be expeditiously assembled and likewise secured to a mouth piece to effectively and adequately destroy disease germsitherein and also maintain the mouth piece in a sanitary condition at all times. e I
A further object of the invention is to provide an attachment for disinfecting a mouth piece, and said attachment includes parts that are held together by frictional engagement with each other so that said parts can be readily disassembled for cleaning, adding disinfectant or for other purposes.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the. sevoral views, and in which: I
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a telephone transmitter with the mouth piece thereof shown in section and also showing'my attachment in section and in applied position.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the inner shell of the attachment.v 1
Figure 3 is a front view of said inner shell.
wardly extending right angular disposed flange 2 is formed on the inner endof the outer shell while an annular flange 3 extends from the inner edge of the flange 2, therefore the inner portion of the outer shell Figure 4 is a side elevation of the outer is materially reduced by the formation of said flanges asclearly shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
lnterposed within the outer shell is the inner shell 4 which is provided with diametrically oppositely disposed ears 5 adapted to engage the outer portion of the which overlies the outer edge of the mouth piece and retains antiseptic material 7 between said shells. i
The material is adapted to have antiseptic thereon, and the inner shell 1 is provided with a plurality of apertures 8 arranged in 'row formation, so that the fumes from the antiseptic or disinfectant which may likewise be arranged on the material, will pass through said aperturesand destroy disease germs which may come in contact with the mouth piece and adjacent parts.
Fromthe' above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that the device which forms the subject matter of the present invention will effectively. and
adequately destroy disease germs, when said device is attached to mouth pieces and the like of instruments as above set forth and in view of the factthat the shells are frictionally associated, they may be readily removed in an expeditious manner for changing the antiseptic material or for other purposes. By employing the ears 5, it will be further apparent that the'device can be effectively clamped to a mouth piece with very little effort on the part of the operator.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall with in the scope of the appended claim. What. I claim is An attachment for mouth pieces comprising' an outer shell of substantially conical formation, an inwardly right angled disposed flange formed on the inner end of said outer shell, an annular flange formed on the inner edge of the flange first mentioned, an
inner shell having its inner end fri'etionally engaging; the annular flange and being spaced from the Walls of the outer shell, said inner shell being provided With a plurality of apertures arrangedin roW forniatiorn'ears' integrally formed on the outer end of said inner shell and arranged in spaced parallelism therewith for clamping the attachment to a mouth piece and antiseptic material disposed between the shells for the purpose 10 specified. V
In testimony whereof 'I" affix my signature.
CHARLES HARRY MONKS.
