Abstract
272,619. Robin, L., and Ponthiere, P. de. March 19, 1926. Ratchet gearing.-Friction one-way gripping devices comprise driving and driven members 16, 22, Fig. 1, having track members 17, 19 eccentrically disposed to one another, and sets of balls 18 of dissimilar diameter adapted to jam between the track members. The balls 18 are spaced apart and held in definite positions by springs 23. A two-phase grip suitable for variable-speed gearing is shown in Fig. 3, there being two oscillators 16, 16<1> and a single driven outer rotor 22. A multiple-phase device is described comprising independent outer oscillators side by side surrounding the rotor.
