272,453. Trans-Lux Daylight Picture Screen Corporation, (Assignees of Birdsall, W. T.). June 8, 1926, [Convention date]. Optical-projection apparatus. - In means for intermittently rotating a shaft &c. comprising a chain or other flexible member carrying dogs &c. which intermittently engage a driven element in driving relation with the shaft, the flexible member rotates continuously a member which is coaxial with the driven element; the shaft may carry a sprocket driving a flexible band carrying slides for optical projection. As shown, the continuously rotated member 9 consists of a toothed wheel rotated by a chain 10 carrying a laterally-projecting dog 13 which intermittently and successively engages a number of laterallyprojecting pins 8 on a disc 6 secured to the shaft 3. The shaft is held between feed movements by a roller 15 on a pivoted member 14 pulled by a spring 17, the roller coming into engagement with one of a number of notches 16 in the edge of the disc 6 each time the dog 13 disengages a pin 8. The notches 16 are V-shaped so that accurate positioning of the shaft is secured even if the chain should become stretched. The member 14 &c. is carried by a plate 18, adjustable round the axis of the shaft, so that the position in which the shaft is held between feed movements may be varied.
