Abstract

271,748. Buxton, P. M., and Bosanquet, N. E. T. Nov. 26, 1926. Garment racks.-In a trunk, box, &c. having a folding rack device for garments, the rack is attached to the body and lid of the trunk so that when the latter is opened and stood on end it is held firmly in that condition by the rack. As shown, the rack comprises inner and outer arcuate rods q, c, the outer rod e being jointed at one end to a tubular post b secured in a corner of the bottom of the trunk and the rod q being hinged to a, corner of the lid by a universal joint r. When the trunk is stood on end and opened about 90‹, the free end of the rod e is secured by a spring catch i fixed in the opposite corner of the lid and the free end of the rod q engages a. hollow post c secured in a corner of the bottom of the box. Metal or other hangers t have hooked ends engaging the posts b, c when the trunk is closed and can be slid along the arcuate rods when the trunk is opened and the rods fixed as described. Curved arms x for supporting coats &c. may be hooked into tabs u projecting from the hangars.
