Abstract

270,969. Hesketh, B. Nov. 12, 1925. Fusible cut-outs.-A sheet of metallic foil or a layer of metal deposited upon a backing material such as paper is used as a fuse by bring- ing in contact with its surface a current carrying point or fine contact wire. The foil &c. 11 is carried upon a disc or cylinder 10 which may be of conducting material connected to a terminal 15. The terminal 18 is attached to an arm 17 carrying a wire 20, a fresh point of contact of the wire being obtained by turning the cylinder by means of the screw 12 and knob 13. If metal faced paper is employed it may be folded before mounting on the cylinder so that it presents a metallic face to both the cylinder 10 and the wire 20. If a disc of foil is used it is mounted on a conducting or non-conducting plate in which a terminal is secured making contact with the foil. The contact wire is moved over the disc by a rotatable arm the length of which may be variable.
