Abstract

270,734. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Baker, TV. R. G.). May 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Thermionic amplifiers and generaotrs ; keying systems.-A high-frequency signalling system has a plurality of amplifying units excited from a source of high-frequency current 2, and an independent coupling between each unit and a transmitting circuit 1, so that if one or more units are removed from the system no change in tuning is necessary. Each amplifying unit consists of a pair of thermionic valves 3, 4 or 5, 6 connected in push-pull relation and having independently tuned output circuits 11, 13, 14 and 12, 15, 16 respectively, independently coupled through coils 17, 18 to the transmitting circuit. Tuned trap circuits 21, 21<1> are provided between a high-tension main 19 and each amplifier unit to prevent reaction between the units. Grid-biasing potentials are obtained by thermionic rectifiers 22, 24 supplied with alternating current by transformers 23, 25. The grid-bias of the oscillating valve 2 is normally of such a value that no oscillations are produced and signalling is effected by a relay 26 closing a shunt circuit round a grid condenser 27 and resistance 28.
