Containers for roll films.-A tank for daylight development of the kind having an elongated body provided at one end with a removable cover, and having means for unwinding the film in the tank in the form of a loop, is characterized in that the unwinding of the film is effected by a cord which is connected to a roller engaging the loop of film and is drawn out of the tank through an upturned pipe at the end remote from the cover. The tank 1 may be, for example, of flat oval section, and it is closed at one end, which is fitted with a bent tube 13 for the introduction of developer. The other end is open for the reception of the film, and has a cover 3, shown removed. which carries on its inside spring clips 3 in which the film spool 5 is journaled, a brake spring 6 bearing on the film roll, and a clip 10 in which the end of the film backing-paper is inserted after this, with the attached film, has been passed round a roller 8. A cord 12 passing through the tank and out through the pipe 13 is connected to the roller 8 so that, when the cover is in position on the tank, the film may be extended in a long loop therein by withdrawing the cord through the pipe 13. The joint between the tank and its cover is light-trapped, as by a rubber band 16, or by shaping the engaging flanges, and the pipe 13 may be closed by a stopper 12<a>. Alternative means for gripping the end of the film backing- paper are referred to. The tank may be rocked about a. leg 15.
