268,572. Pulsometer Engineering Co., Ltd., and Bj÷rnstad, J. May 21, 1926. Impeller blades.-Cutting blades 6 mounted on a rotary shaft 1 are arranged in relation to the suction branch-pipe 2a so that any solid matter that can pass along the suction pipe with the liquid can reach the cutting blades and be acted upon in conjunction with the stationary blade or blades 7, without jamming in the suction pipe as when cutting blades project into the area of the pipe. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the cutting rotor is arranged with its axis perpendicular to a plane that is median to the branch 2a of the suction pipe the rotor extending across the whole width of this branch pipe. The rotor blades 6 form extensions of the impeller blades 4, and the driving spindle is mounted horizontally. The stationary blade 7, adjustable by a screwed spindle 8, is placed below the centre line of the pump and exceeds in width the diameter of the suction branch 2<a>. By this arrangement, any solid material cut up tends to fall away from the impeller and thereby keep the clear space between the impeller blades. The clearance between the casing and the cutting rotor increases beyond the point 10<a>. The impeller and cutting rotor may be formed as separate castings arranged end to end and secured upon and driven by the driving spindle 1. The driving spindle may be arranged vertically, with horizontally-arranged suction inlet and delivery outlets. Specification 26913/10 is referred to.
