Handling transferable, vehicle bodiies; platforms.-Freight is brought to a sorting and distributing station in separate packages and also in small or large transferable vehicle bodies, and after sorting by destination, is transferred to motor vehicles in separate packages, or in small or large transferable bodies according to requirements. The station comprises a platform 10 with the opposite sides of saw-tooth formation to provide bays directed oppositely in the vehicle runways 13, 14 and one or more crane runways 18, 19 extending longitudinally and spaced inwardly from the bays.
