Appliances for illuminating cavities.-To enable a cystoscope, gastroscope, or like instrument to be sterilized in boiling water the reflecting prism a<1> in the the inner tube a, and the glasses closing the light emitting and receiving aperture in the outer tube (not shown), are secured with cement resistant to hot water, e.g. dental cement ; the components b<1> - - b<8> of the lens system are secured within the tube a without cement, by means of spacing tubes c. The components of achromatic pairs b<2>, b<3> ; b<5>, b<6>, are separated from each other by air spaces.
