Sanitary and hygienic devices.-A spring-controlled flap d hinged to a casing or frame surrounding the mouthpiece b of a telephone transmitter is held in the open position when the receiver l is off its hook by the engagement of a spring-pressed plunger h, Fig. 3, with a bevelled hole g' in a rigid lug g on the flap d. The plunger h slides in a sleeve on the bracket arm j and is connected by Bowden wire mechanism to the receiver hook m. In a modified construction, Fig. 5, the plunger h is replaced by a spring bracket arm r, the flange r<1> on which is adapted to engage a notch in the rigid bevelled catch t on the flap d. The flap carries a disinfecting pad f.
