Abstract

265,549. Hannen, C. Feb. 2, 1926, [Convention date]. Slings; load, engaging.-Metal bars, rails, pipes, timbers &c., are formed into bundles by straps b, which are constructed for engagement with crane hooks and are left on the bundle during storage or transport. The straps may be made of hoop iron, or of round or rectangular bar, of cable or chain, or of stranded wire. Eyes c for the crane hook may be formed in the straps, or made separately and assembled therewith or attached thereto. The eyes may be bent down, as in Fig. 2, after loading the bundles, to prevent damage in transport. The bundles may be bound with wire, and separate binding straps used for lifting. The lifting eyes c may be embedded in the bundle, Fig. 7. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 19184/95, [Class 92, Ordnance &c.], 16655/98, 6591/99, 14241/09, and 108,982.
