Abstract

264,667. Hobbs, A. E. Feb. 3, 1926. Cylinders, cooling.-Means for keeping hot the circulating water when the engine is not in use comprises an insulated tank 1 provided with a flexible connection 2 which may be attached to the drainage plug of the radiator to receive the water. When the engine is to be reused the curved base 6 of the tank is placed on the bonnet of the car and a tap 8, which is arranged over the filler-cap of the radiator, is turned on. The tank 1 is insulated by exhausting a space 5 or filling it with an insulating material. It may be mounted in a sliding frame and raised by a winch, the flexible connection being permanently attached to a tap at the bottom of the tank and the drainage plug of the radiator. An air vent 11 is closed by a float 12 when the tank is filled, and an insulated connection for the pipe 2 comprises a nipple, a rubber cork and a pipe which extends into the liquid.
