Abstract

419,976. Mixing-apparatus. LANGSDORF, W., 280, Euston Road, London. Aug. 29, 1933, No. 23954. [Class 86.] In a machine for mixing liquids and semi-liquids, of the kind in which an impeller mounted on a vertical shaft beneath a doublewalled guide body of annular crosssection disposed in a container for the liquid is adapted to circulate the liquid in a direction as indicated, and in which a heating or cooling medium is circulated between the walls of the guide body, the heat exchanging surface is extended by the provision of fins or the like formed integrally with or connected to one or both walls of the guide body. In the form shown, the fins are in the nature of deep impressions f made in the inner conical wall d<1> of the guide body d, and a further extension of the heat exchanging surface is obtained by providing the guide body d with an upward prolongation extending beyond the normal overflow area of the liquid, apertures g being provided in the prolongation for the liquid to overflow. When thick liquids are treated, the impeller shaft c may be extended through the guide body d, and provided with a worm k.
