Nozzles.-In steam turbines having nozzles formed by a series of inter-engaging blocks secured to an annular plate or stator, a series of similar overlapping nozzle blocks a is used, each having a groove c, of which the inner wall d is concave, and the fourth wall of the nozzle passage being formed by the overlapping and abutting portion of the adjacent block. The blocks have grooves h with square corners fitting a rib on the supporting ring b, to which the blocks are secured by rivets i, or by welding or screws. Rivets j secure the blocks together, and the rigid structure comprising blocks and supporting ring may readily be machined to the required dimensions. Radial dowel pins m secure steam-tightness at the throat between overlapping portions of adjacent blocks. Caulking may also be used.
