Clockwork actuation.-A disc P rotated anticlockwise by clockwork carries tappets m<1>, N for closing and opening a switch constituted by a bridge B and mercury cups R, R<1>. When tappet m<1>engages a trigger lever C, the latter is turned about its pivot S and strains a spring c<1>, and when the tappet rides over the end thereof it returns and overshoots the dead centre position of the spring and knocks a trip lever G pivoted at g<1> clear of a stop a' on the switch arm A. This arm then turns about its pivot S to the closed position. Subsequently the tappet N engages a setting lever D and turns it against the action of a spring d<1> till a pawl K, Fig. 2, stiffly pivoted thereto contacts with a stop e<2> and is turned anti-clockwise to such a position that it will engage a shoulder a<2> on the arm A when the lever D on disengagement from the tappet N returns to its normal position. The arm A is thereby returned to the " off " position and again retained by the trip lever G, the pawl K being removed from engagement with the shoulder a<2> by contacting with a stop E during the final part of the return movement of the lever D. Another tappet i<1> on the disc P contacts once in each revolution with a seven toothed star wheel H, one of the teeth of which carries a roller h<2>. Thus on one day of the week the roller h<2> engages and moves the trip lever G before the trigger lever is operated and thus the switch is closed early. Another tooth of the wheel H carries a roller h<1>, which on another day of the weak contacts with a locking lever F and moves its end into engagement with the stop a<1> before the trigger lever is operated and thus prevents the switch from closing on this day.
