Abstract
749,891. Switches held set and freed mechanicallly. BRYAN, W. E. Dec. 20, 1954 [Dec. 17, 1953; June 16, 1954], Nos. 35135/53 and 17624/54]. Class 38(5) [Also in Groups XV and XVIII] An amusement apparatus, such as a mechanical horse, (see Group XV) is driven by an electric motor 34 controlled by a mercury switch 83 operated by coin freed mechanism, a hand lever and. a mechanical timing arrangement. After insertion a coin, on reaching track 67, knocks the end of arm 76 causing projection 95 to knock levers 79 and 80 out of alignment which allows lever 82 to be pulled across against peg 87 which carries arm 86 across until cut out 90 engages catch 89 so that arm 86 is held and peg 85 no longer prevents switch 83 from closing. Switch 83 can now be closed by moving a lever 91 through linkwork by a control knob 9 when motor 34 will be started and ratchet wheel 75 will be rotated by a pawl 74 reciprocated by the motor. As pin 98 rotates, it moves lever 82 and hence levers 79. 80 back to their original positions. When rotation of wheel 75 is almost complete, pin 98 engages arm 86, disengages catch 89 and arm 86 is pulled back by spring 108 and peg 85 engages member 84 to open the switch 83 to stop the motor. On falling through track 67, the larger of the coins will engage the end of arm 69 whose other end will rise so that pin 71 pushes arm 96 and hence arm 72 upwards. In this position of arm 72, wheel 75 will be rotated more slowly so that the apparatus operates for a longer time. The switch 83 may be returned to the " off" position at any time by lever 9.
