Materials for wearing- apparel; ribbons; undergarments. - Shoulder straps for supporting undergarments are made Wholly or in part of pile fabric with the pile threads arranged to engage the wearer's body or an adjacent article of clothing thereby preventing slipping. As shown, the pile threads 2 are set obliquely to increase the grip. In manufacture, preferably, a narrow ribbon of silk pile fabric is woven by a " four pick pile weave " and the pile threads are afterwards altered to an inclined direction by moistening, steam, and brushing in the direction in which it is desired the pile threads should incline. The fabric is steamed on the back during brushing and is dried with the back face against a drying can. Specification 175,603, [Class 142 (iv), Woven fabrics &c.], is referred to.
