Abstract

263,495. Lendvay, K. Dec. 22, 1925, [Convention date]. Magnetic compasses. - Map measuring instruments comprise a base plate consisting of a circular graduated portion F and a handle N, the latter being provided with scales on the edges. The graduated portion F has two slots along a diameter to enable a plate Y rotatable on a pin T to-be moved upwards so that any of the four pairs of points 0 - - R project beyond the upper edge of the portion F. These pairs of points are used to scale off readings from maps. The pin T also carries a graduated arm H which may be used in conjunction with the handle N to measure angles or lengths. Slots c in the handle are utilized to measure distances by holding the instrument at a definite distance from the eyes when viewing the distant object. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also means to enable the instrument to be used in conjunction with a magnetic compass. A compass V is fitted with a phosphorescent scale and a slide B into which the handle N is fitted. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
