Directing and adjustably supporting portable endless-chain conveyers. and elevators; feeding-devices.-A loading-machine for use in mines comprises a conveyer or conveyers D, a motor or motors B, and a haulage drum or drums C, mounted upon a truck or sledge A, and is moved endwise towards the spoil by hauling on an anchorage fixed positively to the undisturbed ground and buried in the spoil. As shown in Fig. 3, the conveyer D delivers to an extension conveyer D<1> of the scraper, belt or shaker type, which may be adjustable about a vertical axis. The conveyer D may be of the over-and-under scrapertype and provided with a pivoted slipper E to enter the spoil. It may be turned about an intermediate horizontal axis 2 for transport, and the axis 2 may be adjustable vertically. The motor B may drive the conveyer and haulage drums through separate clutches and transmission mechanisms and the drive for the haulage drums may include a high speed for moving the machine up. to the working' position and a variable slow speed for entering the spoil.
