Abstract

262,420. Coster, J. de. Dec. 5, 1925, [Convention date]. Sparking-plugs are placed in shunt with a circuit containing a spark-gap and a condenser. A casing 1 encloses condenser plates and insulation. One side of the condenser is connected to the terminal 15 and thence to the plug casing by an elastic supporting member 16<1>. The other side of the condenser is separated from the inner end of the terminal 2 by a spark gap, the terminal 2 receiving current from a magneto and transmitting it to the sparking plug by a lead 17. In a modification the condenser is barrel-shaped, an axially-arranged lead passing through to the sparking plug. The condenser plates are wound around this lead, one set having a connection to a lateral terminal and thence to the plug casing; the other plate or plates being separated by a gap. from the conductive end of the barrel, this end being connected by a set screw to the central lead.
