123,308. Bosch Magneto Co., (Assignees of Heins, O., Wild, C. M., and Schwarzmann, W. E.). Feb. 11, 1918, [Convention date]. Magneto-electric machines.-A condenser of the roll type for use with a magneto has side contact terminals and has a metal band shrunk tightly round it. The condenser is formed of continuous bands 1, 2 of foil separated by paraffined paper 3 and wound on a fibre cylinder 4. The foil bands project laterally to form continuous terminals at each side. The fibre cylinder is slipped over the metal hub 5 of the terminal plate 6 and the slotted plate 7 forming the other terminal plate is held against the insulating ring 11 by the screw 13 in the metal core 12. A fibre cap 16 fits closely round the cylindrical surface of the condenser and over the plate 7, and a metal band 18 is shrunk on to the cap. Connectors 9 on the plate 7 pass through the cap for connexion to the terminal 28 of the magneto winding. A metal mounting 19 for the condenser is secured to the poles 21 by screws and dowels and a projection 10 on the plate 7 enters a bushed hole in the plate 26 to prevent any rotation. The condenser plates are clamped by means of the screw pin 34 which also serves to connect the plate 7 to the insulated element 32 of the interrupter. The terminal 28<1> of the winding and the plate 6 of the condenser are connected to the frame by the spring- pressed brush 36 and conductor 37. The earthed interrupter element is connected to the frame by the brush 38.
