Abstract

A method of joining first 100 and second 200 parts of an animal identification tag together comprising heating an edge of the first part and an edge of the second part, to partially melt the edges and contacting the edges to join the first part second parts together. A heated element 300 with two oppositely opposed heating surfaces 304 may be used for the heating.. The first and second parts may be heated simultaneously and then the element removed 400. When the heated edges are pressed together 402, a seam 404 may be formed between their edges. The parts may be separated along this seam before use. The first and second parts may comprise male 202 and female 102 engagement parts, to attach the tag to an animal and plates 104, 204 with information relating to the animal. A tag is disclosed where the first and second parts are joined side by side. This allows a user to keep pairs of parts of a tag together prior to attaching to an animal so parts don’t get lost or tags for different animals don’t get mixed up.
