Abstract

261,836. British Electric Transformer Co., Ltd., and Roothaan, J. Aug. 24, 1924. Addition to 184,207. Transformers.-Relates to transformer coils in which turns of bare or slightly insulated conductors are spaced apart by strips of insulating material of the kind known under the registered Trade Marks " bakelite," formite " &c. as described in the parent Specification, and comprises a coil in which the adjacent sets of convolutions b, c are disposed between inner radial spacing strips f, h and corresponding outer strips e, i provided with recesses to receive insulating distance pieces d, g which space apart the convolutions in each set. The ends b<1>, c' of the coil are secured in insulating sleeves m, m<1>, embracing the last two turns, by inserting a wedge between the turns within the sleeves. Fig. 6 shows a number of such coils connected together in series, the ends of the coils being secured together by a U-shaped clamping member r and tapered bolt s. An extension of one of the conductors at these points or a separate length of conductor may be employed as a tapping.
