Feed-motions.-In planing, moulding, or other wood-working machines, the work is fed by an endless chain e of roughened plates, the upper run carried on bars z, whilst the work is pressed down by rollers o, p, the last mentioned being driven from the endless chain drive w. The roller are adjustable vertically by screws m<1>, n<1>, with or without springs and the housing in which they are mounted is pivoted to a bracket j and can be tilted by means of a screw x to accommodate non-rectangular work. The bracket j can be slid across the bed by means of rock and pinion gear y. To allow these adjustments of the roller p, the drive to the same is through a telescopic shaft s<1> jointed at p<2>, s<2>. The endless chain may be arranged to extend under a feed hopper.
