Bodies.-A pressedmetal roof cotrstruction comprises arched marginal sections, which are laterally expansible and contractible, and a central panel transversely braced. As shown, the rear quarter panel is arched forwardly to form the rear marginal roofsection 13 which is joined to the two lateral roof-sections 23 by means of welded joints. The front section comprises a panel 2 which is bent over at the front and joins an underpanel 35, Fig. 6, which is supported by a top windscreen header 34 and brackets 36. The lateral panels 23 are jointed to the panel 21. The central section 24 joins the marginal sections by means of a doubled edge 25, Fig. 3, and a depending flange 27 on the central panel co-operating with an off-set 26 on the marginal panels, together with, in all cases except the rear panel 13, an angular member 28 forming longitudinal and transverse stiffening ribs for the central panel. In addition, transverse wooden ribs 29 are provided secured to wooden casings 30 on the flanges 27. The outer edges of the marginal panels 23 are bent downwardly at 31, Fig. 3, and secured to the longitudinal rails 32, and at the rear part of the panels 23 the edge 31 is bent inwardly and formed into a channel to take the rear quarter light 40. The rails 32 may be dispensed with and the lateral panels bent inwardly to replace them. Upholstery material 41, Fig. 3, is provided.
