Insulating-coverings for cables and conductors; cables, arrangement and disposition of parts of. -A flexible conductor for telephone apparatus consists of enamelled metal wires, either alone or in combination with other non-enamelled metal wires, the enamelled surface being in contact with the outer protective insulating covering. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a brass wire 1 is wrapped closely around with an enamelled copper wire 2 and an insulating coating 3 of silk or cotton. In another construction, Fig. 2, an enamelled wire 1 is twisted helically at 2. Fig. 3 shows a conducting core composed of a number of strands each consisting of a cotton thread 4 around which is wrapped an enamelled metal wire or strip 5. The core shown in Fig. 4 consists of cotton 4 wrapped round with fine enamelled copper wires, and that shown in Fig. 5 consists of a strand of very fine enamelled copper wires.
