Abstract

260,303. Durand et Huguenin Soc. Anon., (Assignees of Farbenfabriken vorm. F. Bayer & Co.). Oct. 26, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 186,057. Leuco compounds of vat-dyes, esters of.-The chlorsulphonic acid used in the process of the parent Specification for the production of esterlike derivatives of leuco vat-dyes is replaced by pyrosulphuryl chloride Cl.SO2.O.SO2.Cl. When using the latter the presence of a small amount of water in the leuco compound is not detrimental. According to an example, leuco dibromindigo is treated with pyrosulphuryl chloride in presence of dimethylaniline and chlorobenzene: the reaction product is steam-distilled with sodium carbonate and the sodium salt of the ester salted out from the residue. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the specific use of leuco compounds of 4 : 5<1>-7<1>-trichlorindigo, thioindigo. and dyestuffs of the anthraquinone series. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
