Abstract

Couplings disconnectible.-In hose pipe couplings of the type described in Specification 1053/77, wherein spigot and socket members A, A<1> are held together by radial spring-pressed bolts b, the sliding bolt is withdrawn by the rotation of a rotary member mounted upon the bolt housing and formed with a straight inclined plane or planes adapted to engage a complementary incline formed at or near the inner end of the bolt housing. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bolt housing b<1> is formed with inclined plane surfaces D, Fig. 5, which are engaged by corresponding planes E, Fig. 3, on a rotary sleeve F, interposed on the housing between the bolt-knob C and the planes D. Alternatively, the sleeve F mav be dispensed with and the planes E formed in the end of the boltknob, Figs. 18, 19, which is made rotary. Several slightly modified constructions are described.
