259,852. Payne & Co., Ltd., G., and Godfrey, W. H. May 1, 1926. Guards.-A circular saw b is provided with a guard or hood c which can be moved away from the saw at the will of the operator. The hood c is carried upon a slide d movable in a guide-way e and engaged by a slotted lever f. The lever f is secured to a shaft g, which extends to the end of the saw-bench a and is connected by cranks h, k and a link i to a pedal or hand-lever l. Depression of the pedal l withdraws the hood, return being effected by a spring m. The approach of the guard to the saw may be arrested by a buffer. The guard may be fitted with a brush or scraper to keep its path clear of obstructions.
