Abstract
259,022. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and Penfold, A. E. Sept. 26, 1925. Preserving and packing indiarubber.-Rubber and like material is formed into sheets in calendering-rolls, cut to the desired width, and rolled up in a damp cloth or other lining. The apparatus shown in Fig. 1 may be used. The rubber 1 is passed through rolls 2, 3, cut to the required width by knives 5, and carried on the lining 6, supplied from a roll 7, to a batching roll 9. A damping roller 12, which may be rubbercovered, is partly immersed in a tank of water 13, and is pressed against the lining by a lever 15 carrying a sprocket 16 engaged by a chain 17 passing round a sprocket 18 to which a lever 19 carrying a weight 14 is attached. Alternatively the roller 12 may be pressed upwardly by springs; the damping-roller may be associated with the supply roll 7; or the supply or batching-roll may rotate in' a tank containing water.
