Abstract
257,761. Gimson Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., Bagshaw, C. M., and Wardle, W. Oct. 3, 1925. Splitting-machines.-In a machine for preparing soles for the reception of heels of the Louis' type, the heel end of the sole is positioned over a plunger 18 by geared gauge fingers. The leather is bulged through a die plate 16 and the tongue 28 is cut by a hand-actuated sliding knife 1. Without disturbing the workpiece, auxiliary plungers 30 sliding in the plunger are actuated to bulge portions of the marginal piece 27 through supplementary holes 35 in the die plate 16 and the knife is again actuated to form the tongues A. The main plunger 18 is actuated by a treadle moving on two separate pivots and the auxiliary plungers are connected to allow of the main and the auxiliary plungers being actuated independently or simultaneously.
