Abstract

257,540. Crabtree, W. A. March 9, 1926. Corrugating.-A machine for forming circumferential corrugations in cylindrical sheet metal containers comprises upper and lower rollers 2, 3 respectively, each provided with a number of splined corrugated hoops 22, 23 separated by springs 24. The upper roller is pivoted to allow the insertion of the work wand at the commencement of the operation, the hoops are separated by the spaces x and the end hoops abut against end flanges 2d. 3d, on the rollers. The lower roller is then progressively raised by screw-operated means until the corrugations are completely formed, the hoops sliding against the pressure of the springs 24 during the operation until they engage end to end.
