Abstract
257,193. Kruckenberg, F. April 7, 1926. Doors for passenger vehicles. - In a vehicle of stream-like form for use on highs p e e d suspension railways, the body is made of an elliptic cross-section, Fig. 1, merging at its upper portion into a narrower part 13, which serves as a longitudinal inverted keel or fin and is preferably arranged to house the running gear, brakes, and tanks for fuel, oil and cooling water. The doors 16 are so shaped that when closed they conform to the exterior shape of the hull and may consist of flaps independently hinged at the upper and lower edges of the doorway, or of two flaps 28, 29, Fig. 11, hinged together at 30 and to the doorway at 33, the free flap 28 being guided in the channels 32. In another construction the door is in the form of slats 37, Fig. 13, guided in channels 34 on the roller-shutter principle, the upper parts 35 of the channels hinging inwardly against the effect of a spring 38 so as to allow the slats to move clear of an abutment 42 at the commencement of an opening operation.
