Abstract

257,083. Island, J. S. July 30, 1925. Frequency, changing.-In an apparatus for producing oxides of nitrogen wherein the electrodes A, B are connected with commercial frequency supply leads 1, 2, a subsidiary circuit 3, 4 including a transformer P, S is arranged across the leads 1, 2, and a high speed interrupter 9 is arranged as a shunt to the secondary S to produce high frequency current in the main circuit. The main supply may be 1,000 volts at 60 cycles and is stepped up to 6,000 volts by the transformer. The interrupter 9 makes and breaks the circuit 80,000 'times per second.
