Compound fabrics. - The method of making balloon material consisting of gold-beaters' skin or other animal skins, membranes or intestines, and a textile fabric described in the parent Specification, in which a softening agent is applied to the fabric after the skin and the fabric have been united, is modified by the application of the softening agent to the skin side of the material. A part only of the softening agent may be applied to the skin side of the material, the remainder being applied to the fabric side. The softening agent used is glycerine, red oil or the like, preferably diluted with water. Several layers of skin may be used.
