Surface condensers. - Two vertically-arranged surface condensers A, A<1> have a common steamdistributing chamber D and preferably also a common hot well E arranged between them. Steam from the inlet C is distributed over the condenser tubes by passage through guide vanes 4. The condensers are preferably divided by baffles 15 into separate chambers each having a separate condensate outlet 16 leading to pipe, 17 which deliver to the hot well. The condenser has steam lanes among the tubes and an air cooler having an air-withdrawal pipe 3 connected by an outlet 13 to the dry air pump or other suction apparatus.
