Sliding-carriage switchgear. -In truck-type switch gear for duplicate bus-bar systems in which the movable member is adapted to be drawn out from the fixed cubicle in a horizontal or vertical direction a member is provided for connecting any of the sets of bus bars to a stationary switch contact, this member being carried by a rotatable carrier so arranged that while the member is in any of its alternate positions the stationary switch contact which it carries is in an operative position. As shown in Fig. 1 the member 11 is carried by a rotatable carrier 17 supported by the casing 19 of the truck member and in the position shown its upper end engages a socket 5 connected to one phase of the first set of bus bars 1. If the truck is withdrawn in a vertical direction the member 17 can be rotated through 180‹ so that when the casing 19 is again raised to the position shown in Fig. 2 the extremity 15 of the member 11 engages a socket 6 connected to one phase of the alternative bus bars 2. The member 11 is connected by a link 42 to an insulated rod carrying the stationary contact 31 of the oil switch which is arranged so that it may be engaged by the bridging bar in either of its alternative positions. The rotatable casings carrying the three members 11 for the three phases may be suitably inter-connected so that they always move together. The member 11 may alternately be arranged obliquely in its carrier as shown in Fig. 3 or may be of L-formation as shown in Fig. 5. The rotatable carrier may be fitted with a dial to indicate when it is in operative position.
