Abstract

255,190. McKay, P. M. May 20, 1925. Limbs, artificial. - A knee-joint is locked by means of a sliding plunger in the bucket engaging with a plate attached to a back-cheek member journaled on the pivot pin of the joint. The bucket 10 contains a D-shaped casting 14 carrying bearings for the pivot pin 13 as described in Specification 191,139. The straight portion of the D is interrupted to accommodate two plates 18, 19 forming a. part of the back-cheek member 12 and carrying a roller 20 for an operating-cord. Against the plate 19 is arranged a bracket 21 secured to the bucket and carrying a sliding plunger 23 engaging with one of a series of recesses 24 in the plate 19. The plunger 23 is operated by a lever 26 actuated by a screw 28 which can be turned bv a handle 30 outside the bucket.
