Abstract

254,179. Larner, D. Dec. 2, 1925. Casting-machines; metal-pouring.-In casting steel the metal is delivered from the ladle 11 to a number of moulds 10 simultaneously while protected from air. The ladle 11 is jointed by an asbestos washer 16 to a vertical tube 14 having a number of radial communicating tubes 19 corresponding to the number of the moulds 10. The tubes are lined with brick 15 and the radial tubes carry covers 22 adapted to be jointed bv asbestos 23 to the moulds. The tubes and moulds are evacuated by fans 24 mounted on the covers 22 or by external means connected to the tubes 26 which are provided with dampers 27.
