Abstract
254,086. Ransford, A. J.,. (Cassella & Co., Ges., L.). June 9, 1925. Acylamino-oxyphenylarsenoxides are prepared by gentle reduction of the corresponding arsinic acids. The products are useful in the treatment of diseases caused by spirochaetae. Examples are given of the production of 4-acetylamino-3- oxyphenyl-1-arsenoxide, 3-acetylamino-4-oxyphenyl-1-arsenoxide, 3-chloro-4-oxy-5-acetylaminophenyl-1-arsenoxide and 3-methyl-4-oxy-5-acetylaminophenyl-1-arsenoxide by treatment of the corresponding arsinic acid with hydriodic and sulphurous acids. Specification 230,487 is referred to. 3-Methyl-4-oxy-5-acetylaminophenyl- 1 -arsinic acid is obtained from 4-amino-2-acetylamino-6- methyl-1-phenol by substituting the arsinic acid residue for the amino group in known manner.
