Abstract

253,794. Priebe, H. C. Nov. 19, 1925. Combined buffer and draw-gear is made with spring-pressed friction members 17, 18 to retard motion when put under stress. The members are semi-cylindrical in form and have medial cam surfaces 26, 27 by means of which they are pressed together when the springs 15, 16 are compressed. The coupler stem 6 is connected to a yoke 7 by means of a key 2 and abuts in the position shown against a member 12. in the position shown the thrusts of the springs are taken by a stop 13 and cross-piece 11 fast to the draught-bar 1 and the member 12 and key 3, which latter is at one end of slots 5 in the bar. When the coupler 6 is put under tension the member 17 is forced upon the spring 15 and the spring 16 is forced upon the member 18, the two semi-cylindrical, members being pressed together. Slots 8 allow of lost motion between the key 2 and the yoke.
