Abstract

253,073. R³tsche, G. March 15, 1926. Spray and absorbent pad burners.-Scale &c. is removed from metal surfaces by subjecting them to the blast of an oxygen-aided flame produced by burning an oil in an excess of oxygen. The oil which may be a spent lubricating oil or a low grade mineral oil, is contained in a reservoir 11, Fig. 2, and is forced by oxygen passing through an injector 14 through a nozzle 22, Fig. 3. Oxygen also passes through a second tube 25 to a nozzle placed beside the nozzle 22. A band 30 of incombustible material is held by wire screening adjacent the tip of the burner into which the oil soaks through holes 31.
