Description

SOLAR PANEL SECURING DEVICE
BACKGROUND
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a solar panel securing device.
[0002] The invention has been primarily developed to provide a securing device used for fixing a solar panel to an underlying or adjacent structure and will be described herein with reference to that application. It will be appreciated however that the invention is not limited to that particular field of use and is also suitable for mounting and/or fixing an array of such panels, or other objects, to houses, other buildings, frames, vehicles or other platforms.
Related Art [0003] Any discussion of the background art throughout the specification should in no way be considered as an admission that such art is widely known or forms part of common
general knowledge in the field.
[0004] A solar panel is central to most solar power systems and functions to convert radiation energy of the sun into electric energy. To efficiently receive this radiation energy, the solar panel should be mounted outdoors, for example, in a location that receives high amounts of solar radiation such as a roof. To receive large amounts of radiation energy, solar panels are constructed with a large surface area and mostly possess a flat surface shape. However, this shape is greatly affected by wind load forces, and a solar panel securing structure should possess a strong positioning capability and have a high structural strength.
[0005] Chinese patent No. 7L200820102376.3 (Publication No. CN2O1 1971 23Y) relates to a solar panel bracket structure, which includes a main beam and a block. The main beam has an accommodation space in which the block can be placed, and the block includes a screw hole for the bolt to pass through. During use, the block is placed in the accommodation space of the main beam and a pressing plate is secured to the block by the bolt to sandwich the solar panel between the pressing plate and the main beam. Using this procedure, the following problems are encountered. Firstly, the length of the bolt that can pass through the block is limited by the height of the accommodation space, so that only a small adjustable range of the bolt is possible. When there is a desire to mount solar panels having different thickness, the length of the required bolt needs to be calculated accurately and suitable bolts need to be selected. This highlights an adaptation problem that gives rise to increasing management costs. In addition, during assembling, a tool and/or a user's hand is required to fix the block, so as to lock the bolt. Therefore, the mounting procedure is rather complicated, time-consuming and labor-consuming.
SUMMARY
[0006] The preferred embodiments of the present invention are directed to overcome the defects and disadvantages of the prior art, and provide a solar panel securing device that is applicable to solar panels with different thickness and is simple and convenient in mounting.
[0007] It is an object of the present invention to overcome or ameliorate at least one of the disadvantages of the prior art, or to provide a useful alternative.
[0008] To achieve the above objects, embodiments of the present invention adopt the following technical solution.
[0009] A first aspect of the present invention provides a solar panel securing device including: a guide rail having an upper end which includes a block accommodation groove, and ends of an opening of the block accommodation groove both include a flange extending inwards; a clamping component, wherein an upper portion of the clamping component includes a bolt connection portion, a middle portion of the clamping component includes a bolt adjustment portion for accommodating the bolt to be adjusted vertically therein, a lower portion of the clamping component includes a block portion clamped in the block accommodation groove, and a center of a bottom end of the block portion includes a spring mounting hole; a bolt configured to be secured to the bolt connection portion and is insertable in the bolt adjustment portion; a pressing plate located above the clamping component and being connected to the clamping component through the bolt; and a spring having an upper section which is secured in the spring mounting hole.
[0010] Specifically, connecting plates disposed symmetrically at two sides of the bolt adjustment portion, and a through groove formed between the connecting plates at the two sides so as to form a space for accommodating the bolt to be adjusted vertically.
[0011] Specifically, a via is disposed longitudinally through the bolt adjustment portion to form a space for accommodating the bolt.
[0012] Preferably, one side of the bolt adjustment portion includes a supporting stopper matching the flange, and wherein a space between the supporting stopper and the block portion is slightly greater than the thickness of the flange.
[0013] The bolt connection portion includes a connection portion body and a nut, the connection portion body including a cavity and the nut being located in the cavity, the cavity being connected with the through groove or the via, the width of the through groove or the via being less than the width of the nut, a center of a top end of the connection portion body including a through hole, and the bolt penetrates the through hole to be secured to the nut.
[0014] The spring is a diameter-variable spring having a thick lower section and a thin upper section.
[0015] The spring mounting hole is a threaded hole, and the upper section of the spring is secured in the threaded hole.
[0016] After adopting the above technical solution, compared with the prior art, the present invention has the following advantages: 1. A securing position is adjusted from a screw hole position of the block to the bolt connection portion above the block, so that the bolt has enough space for adjustment, and using bolts with the same length may meet mounting requirements of solar panels having different thickness, thereby avoiding an adaptation problem and reducing management cost.
2. The block portion of the clamping component is placed in the block accommodation groove, the lower end of the block portion has a spring fixed, and under the elastic force of the spring, pre-positioning of the clamping component is achieved, the clamping component does not need to be supported during assembling, which is very convenient for subsequent mounting works.
3. When it is required to perform maintenance and replacement on the solar panel, because the pre-positioning of the clamping component is achieved by the spring, and the elastic force of the spring is relatively small, the clamping component can be taken out easily from an original assembling position, and detaching is very convenient.
4. The supporting stopper matches the flange, so as to effectively prevent inclination of the clamping component during assembling, thereby making mounting more conveniently, and improving stability of mounting the solar panel.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0018] It should be understood that, the described specific embodiments are only used for explaining the present invention, and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
Embodiment 1 [0019] As shown in FIG. 1, a solar panel securing device includes a guide rail 1, a clamping component 2, a bolt 3 in these embodiments a pressing plate 4 and a spring 5. An upper end of the guide rail 1 is provided with a block accommodation groove 11.
[0020] As shown in to FIG. 2, located at an upper portion of the clamping component 2 is a bolt connection portion 21. Two connecting plates 22 are disposed symmetrically at two sides of a middle portion of the clamping component 2. A through groove 221 is formed between the connecting plates 22 at the two sides. The width of the through groove 221 is slightly greater than the outer diameter of the bolt 3, a lower portion of the clamping component 2 includes a block portion 23, which matches the block accommodation groove 11. A center of a bottom end of the block portion 23 includes a spring mounting hole 231. A specific shape of the block portion 23 is able to be symmetric, non-symmetric, step-wise or the like, and the specific shape of the block portion 23 is not limited, and any shape is available.
[0021] The bolt connection portion 21 includes a connection portion body 211 and a nut 212. The nut 212 is located in a cavity 2111 inside the connection portion body 211. The cavity 2111 is connected with the through groove 221, and the width of the through groove 221 is less than the width of the nut 212. A center of a top end of the connection portion body 211 includes a through hole 2112, and the bolt 3 passes through the through hole 2112 and is secured to the nut 212. In other embodiments, the bolt connection portion 21 may not have the cavity but matches the bolts by directly machining a screw hole having a thread complementary to that of the bolt 3. However, because the clamping component 2 is generally made of aluminum alloy, the securing strength in these embodiments is weaker.
[0022] Referring to FIGs 1 and 2, the bolt 3 is secured to the bolt connection portion 21 and is inserted in the through groove 221.
[0023] As shown in FIG. 1, the pressing plate 4 is located above the clamping component 2, and the pressing plate 4 is connected to the clamping component 2 by the bolt 3. After the bolt 3 is secured and positioned, the solar panel may be sandwiched between a lower end surface of the pressing plate 4 and an upper end surface of the guide rail 1.
[0024] The pressing plate 4 of the present invention may be a middle pressing plate fixing two solar panels simultaneously as shown in FIG. 1, or may also be a side pressing plate fixing one solar panel separately. The specific shape of the pressing plate 4 is not limited to that described herein, and any shape is available.
[0025] Roforring to FIGs S to 5, thc top of thc spring 5 is secured in the spring mounting hole 231 on the block portion 23. In this embodiment, the spring 5 is a diameter-variable spring having a thick lower section and a thin upper section, as shown in FIG. 3. As shown in FIG. 4, the spring mounting hole 231 may be a threaded hole, and the upper section of the spring 5 is secured in the threaded hole. As shown in FIG. 5, the spring mounting hole 231 may also be a via' (the via mentioned here is a via without any thread), and the upper section of the spring 5 is bonded in the via with an adhesive (not shown). The specific manner of securing the spring 5 and the spring mounting hole 231 is exemplary only and is not intended to be limiting in the present invention.
[0026] A process of mounting the solar panel securing device according to Embodiment 1 is described below with reference to FIGs 1 to 5.
[0027] The clamping component 2 is initially inserted in the block accommodation groove 11 at a certain inclination angle. The clamping component 2 is then straightened and the spring 5 is also placed in the block accommodation groove 11. The lower end of the spring 5 presses against an inner wall of the groove bottom of the block accommodation groove 11 and is in a compressed state. The clamping component 2 is then released, and under the resilient bias of the spring 5, a clamping portion is clamped in the block accommodation groove 11 so as to implement pre-positioning of the clamping component 2. Finally, the solar panel (not shown) is placed on the upper end surface of the guide rail 1 and the bolt 3 is tightened. A downward pulling force is applied by the bolt 3 to the pressing plate 4 to tightly press the pressing plate 4 against the solar panel.
[0028] It can be seen from the mounting process of Embodiment 1 that, after the clamping component 2 is placed in the block accommodation groove 11, the pre-positioning can be implemented without the need of a human hand or another tool. The whole mounting process is very easy and convenient for an installer of the solar panel. As such, the time required to mount the solar panel can be effectively reduced, thereby reducing mounting costs.
[0029] Furthermore, in comparison with the prior art, the securing position of the bolt 3 is adjusted from the block portion 23 to the bolt connection portion 21 above the block portion 23. This ensures that the bolt 3 has an enough space for adjustment, and provides flexibility for meeting the different mounting requirements of solar panels having different thickness, thereby avoiding an adaptation problem and reducing management cost.
Embodiment 2 [0030] Referring now to FIGs 6 to 8, there is illustrated a solar panel securing device according to Embodiment 2. Corresponding features of Embodiment 1 are designated with the same reference numerals. As shown in FIG. 6, the solar panel securing device includes a guide rail 1, a clamping component 2, a bolt 3, a pressing plate 4 and a spring 5.
[0031] An upper end of the guide rail 1 includes a block accommodation groove 11, and ends of an opening of a block accommodation groove 11 are both provided with an inwardly extending flange 111.
[0032] Referring to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8, an upper portion of the clamping component 2 includes a bolt connection portion, a middle portion of the clamping component 2 includes a bolt adjustment portion 22 having a bolt accommodation space, and a lower portion of the clamping component 2 includes a block portion 23.
[0033] The bolt connection portion includes a connection portion body 211 and a nut (not shown). The nut is located in a cavity 2111 inside the connection portion body 211. The cavity 2111 is connected with the bolt accommodation space of the bolt adjustment portion 22. A through hole 2112 is disposed in the center of a top end of the connection portion body 211 and the bolt 3 passes through the through hole 2112 and is secured to the nut. In other embodiments, the bolt connection portion may not have the cavity but matches the bolt 3 by directly machining a screw hole having a thread complementary to that of the bolt 3. However, because the clamping component 2 is generally made of aluminum alloy, the securing strength in these embodiments is weaker.
[0034] A via 221 is disposed longitudinally through the bolt adjustment portion 22, and the via 221 forms the bolt accommodation space of the bolt adjustment portion 22. The via 221 and the through hole 2112 are both machine cut by a single penetration.
[0035] A supporting stopper 222 matching the flange 111 is disposed on one side of the bolt adjustment portion 22. The space defined between the supporting stopper 222 and the block portion 23 is slightly greater than the thickness of the flange 111 so as to allow receipt of the flange within the space during mounting. The space and the extending length of the supporting stopper 222 from the bold adjustment portion 22 are such that the block portion 23 is not affected from being placed in the block accommodation groove 11. In Embodiment 2, an end of the supporting stopper 222 is aligned with an outer end of the block portion 23, so as to be convenient for extrusion molding from an aluminum profile.
[0036] In engagement, the block portion 23 fits with the block accommodation groove 11.
A center of a bottom end of the block portion 23 includes a spring mounting hole 231 for receiving the spring 5. A specific shape of the block portion 23 may be symmetric, non-symmetric, step-wise or the like. The specific shape of the block portion 23 and the structure of the block accommodation groove 11 matching the block portion 23 are exemplary only and are not intended to be limiting in the present invention, and any shape and any structure are available.
[0037] Referring to FIG. 6, the bolt 3 is secured to the bolt connection portion and is inserted in the via 221.
[0038] The pressing plate 4 is located above the clamping component 2, and is connected to the clamping component 2 by the bolt 3. After the bolt 3 is secured and positioned, the solar panel is sandwiched between a lower end surface of the pressing plate 4 and an upper end surface of the guide rail 1.
[0039] The pressing plate 4 of the present invention may be a side pressing plate for separately fixing one solar panel as shown in FIG. 1, or may be a middle pressing plate for simultaneously fixing two solar panels. The specific shape of the pressing plate 4 is exemplary only and is not intended to be limited to any specific shape or design.
[0040] A top end of the spring 5 is secured in the spring mounting hole 231 above the block portion 23. In this embodiment, the spring 5 is a diameter-variable spring having a thick lower section and a thin upper section (as shown in FIG. 3). As shown in FIG. 4, the spring mounting hole 231 may be a threaded hole, and the upper section of the spring 5 is secured in the threaded hole. As shown in FIG. 5, the spring mounting hole 231 may also be a via (the via mentioned here is a via without any thread), and the upper section of the spring is bonded within the via through an adhesive (not shown). The specific manner of securing the spring 5 and the spring mounting hole 231 is exemplary only and is not intended to be limiting in the present invention.
[0041] A process of mounting the solar panel securing device in Embodiment 2 is described below with reference to FIGs 6 to 8.
[0042] The clamping component 2 is inserted in the block accommodation groove 11 at a certain inclination angle. The clamping component 2 is then straightened and the spring 5 is also placed in the block accommodation groove 11. The flange 111 at one side of the block accommodation groove 11 is situated between the supporting stopper 222 and the block portion 23. The spring 5 is in a compressed state and the lower end of the spring 5 presses against an inner wall of the groove bottom of the block accommodation groove 11. The clamping component 2 is released, and under the resilient bias of the spring 5, the block portion 23 is clamped in the block accommodation groove 11 so as to implement pre-positioning of the clamping component 2. Finally, the solar panel is placed on the upper end surface of the guide rail 1 and the bolt 3 is tightened. A downward pulling force is applied -10 -by the bolt 3 to the pressing plate 4 to tightly press the pressing plate 4 against the solar panel.
[0043] It can be seen from the mounting process of Embodiment 2 that, after the clamping component 2 is placed in the block accommodation groove 11, the pie-positioning can be implemented without the need of a human hand or another tool. The whole mounting process is very easy and convenient for an installer of the solar panel. As such, the time required to mount the solar panel can be effectively reduced, thereby reducing mounting costs.
[0044] It should be noted that, in embodiments where the pressing plate 4 is a side pressing plate for separately fixing one solar panel (as shown in FIG. 6), during the mounting, when the pressing plate 4 presses against the solar panel, the solar panel can generate a counterforce to the pressing plate 4.This counterforce can cause the pressing plate 4 to incline or tilt from its substantial vertical orientation. Further, longitudinal extensions of the bolt 3 and the clamping component 2 along the block accommodation groove 11 can also become inclined (as shown in FIG. 9 and FIG. 10). This inclination or tilling can be inconvenient for installers during the mounting process, and also affects the stability of mounting the solar panel. In the present invention, this problem is reduced or avoided by setting the supporting stopper 222, such that it can press against an upper surface of the flange 111, thereby effectively avoiding inclination of the clamping component 2.
[0045] In addition, in contrast to the prior art, the securing position of the bolt 3 is adjusted from the block portion 23 to the bolt connection portion above the block portion 23.This ensures that the bolt 3 has an enough space tor adjustment, and solar panels having different thickness may be mounted, thereby avoiding an adaptation problem and reducing management cost.
Embodiment 3 [0046] This embodiment differs from Embodiment 2 in different structures of the bolt adjustment portion 22. Referring to FIG. 11, in this embodiment, the bolt adjustment portion 22 includes two connecting plales 223 disposed symmetrically. A through groove 224 formed between the two connecting plates 223 forms a bolt accommodation space, and the width of the through groove 224 is smaller than the width of the nut. One side of the bolt adjustmenl -11 -portion 22 (that is, an outer side of one connecting plate 223) is provided with a supporting stopper 222 matching the flange 111.
